2018 Free Bike Repair Clinic

Our final Free Bike Repair Clinic of 2018 was sponsored by First Presbyterian Church Livermore (FPCL). Thanks to their generosity we had tubes, tires, brakes, grips, seats, and pedals ready to be used by our volunteer mechanics to fix bikes big and small. A dozen mechanics and other volunteers worked tirelessly to fix 50 bikes today! We also gave away 25 helmets to those that didn’t have one. In addition to fitting the helmet correctly our volunteers talked with them about bike safety and why it’s important to wear their helmet correctly every time they ride.

Best quote of the day was from a little boy who when he saw his bike said, “It’s like new! How did you do that? … It must be magic!!!” He hopped on his bike and rode around the basketball court with a huge smile that made us all smile too.

Why did a couple dozen people give up their day to volunteer today? It’s the feeling we get knowing we made a difference in the lives of those we served today, and those big smiles, oh yes, those smiles! Let us know if you’d like to join our volunteer team and help at a repair clinic in the future.
